Outdoor compactors need all-weather chemistry dosed continuously, because heat accelerates the bacterial breakdown that produces the odor. Luften installs weather-rated dispensing at the hopper and pad, doses more frequently in warm months, and services the unit monthly so the pad stays under control through the season.
The smell comes from leachate — liquid pressed out of compacted waste — pooling in the hopper, under the unit, and in the pad drain, where it ferments. Treating the leachate path is what removes the odor; masking agents sprayed into the air have no effect on it.
